OurBookmark ("we," "our," or "us") is a free family reading tracker available at ourbookmark.com. We built OurBookmark to help families track their children's reading habits. We take your privacy and your children's privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Who This Policy Covers

OurBookmark is used by parents and guardians to track reading for their children. The app is operated by adults. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts or directly submit personal information. All data is entered and managed by a parent or guardian on behalf of their child.

• Your email address (for account creation and login)
• Your family name or profile name (optional)
• Your children's first names and grade levels (optional)
• Reading log entries: book titles, minutes read, dates, and session notes
• Reading goals and challenges you set

Information We Collect Automatically

• Basic usage data (pages visited, features used) to improve the app
• Device type and browser type for compatibility purposes
• IP address for security and fraud prevention

We do not use advertising trackers or sell your data to third parties.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide solely to:

• Provide and maintain the OurBookmark service
• Save and sync your reading logs across devices
• Generate reading reports and summaries for your use
• Send account-related emails (e.g., password reset)
• Improve the app based on how it is used

We do not use your data to serve ads. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

OurBookmark is designed for parents and guardians to manage on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

Children's names and reading data entered into OurBookmark are provided by a parent or guardian and are used only to provide the reading tracking service within that family's account.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information directly without parental consent, please contact us at hello@ourbookmark.com and we will promptly delete it.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and authenticated access controls.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

6. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in these limited circumstances:

• With service providers (such as Supabase for database hosting) who are bound by confidentiality agreements and only process data on our behalf
• If required by law, court order, or government authority
• To protect the safety, rights, or property of OurBookmark or its users

7. Reading Reports

OurBookmark allows you to generate and download reading reports as PDF files. These reports are generated on your device and are not stored on our servers. You are responsible for how you share these reports with teachers, schools, or other parties.

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies necessary to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data (available via the app's Export feature)

10. Third-Party Services

OurBookmark integrates with the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com/privacy)
• ISBNdb / Google Books — book search and metadata (no personal data is shared)
• Amazon / Bookshop.org — affiliate links for book purchases (only activated if you click a link)

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or via a notice in the app.
